AirshowWorld is a free app for iPhone and iPad that lets you discover airshow events around the world, follow your favourite aerobatic display teams, and add events directly to your calendar.
Requirements
- iPhone or iPad running iOS / iPadOS 18 or later
- An iCloud account (for syncing favourites across your devices)
- Internet connection for loading events and team data
First launch
- Open the app — it will fetch the latest events from the cloud.
- During onboarding, choose the aerobatic teams you want to follow. Your local team is shown at the top.
- Allow notifications when prompted to receive alerts for new events and team updates.
- Allow calendar access when you want to save an airshow date to your calendar.
❓ Frequently Asked Questions
Why is the events list empty?
Make sure your device has an active internet connection. If the issue persists, pull down on the list to trigger a manual refresh. If you see an iCloud error, open Settings → [your name] → iCloud and make sure iCloud Drive is enabled.
I can't add an event to my calendar
AirshowWorld needs calendar access to save dates. Go to Settings → Privacy & Security → Calendars → AirshowWorld and grant write access.
I'm not receiving notifications
Check that notifications are enabled for AirshowWorld in Settings → Notifications → AirshowWorld. Also verify that Focus / Do Not Disturb is not blocking the app.
My favourites disappeared after reinstalling
Favourites are stored in your iCloud private database and will be restored automatically once the app syncs. Make sure you are signed in to the same iCloud account on your new device.
How do I change my preferred teams?
Open the Teams tab, tap any team card, and use the heart icon to add or remove it from your favourites. Your selection syncs automatically across all your devices via iCloud.
How do I change the app icon?
Go to Settings (gear icon in the app) and tap App Icon. Choose from the available alternate icons inspired by the world's most famous aerobatic teams.
The event dates seem wrong for my timezone
All dates are stored in UTC and displayed in your device's local timezone. If dates look off, check Settings → General → Date & Time and ensure Set Automatically is on.
Can I use AirshowWorld offline?
Data is cached after the first successful load, so previously fetched events and teams remain visible without an internet connection. Some features — such as manual refresh and calendar sync — require connectivity.
🔧 Troubleshooting
App crashes on launch
Force-quit the app, ensure iOS is up to date, then relaunch. If the crash persists, delete and reinstall the app — your favourites will be restored from iCloud.
Slow loading times
Data is fetched from iCloud servers. On a slow connection, loading can take a few seconds. A progress indicator is shown while fetching. Avoid using the app on very restricted networks (e.g. captive portals).
Reporting a data error
If an event listing contains incorrect information (wrong date, location, or team), please email us with the event name so we can correct it in the database.
